Why is there Radical Anti American Shia Clerics in the Iraq government?

Muqtada al-Sadr

Hojatoleslam Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr (مقتدى الصدر Muqtadā aṣ-Ṣadr) (b. August 12, 1973) is the fourth son of the famous Iraqi Shi‘a cleric, the late Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Mohammad Sadeq al-Sadr and son-in-law of Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Baqir As-Sadr.

As of early 2004, he was the de facto ruler of the Sadr City section of Baghdad and commanded the loyalty of the Mahdi Army, an Iranian-backed insurgent force making a bid for power in Iraq.[1]

Clashes with U.S. forces in April were followed by a truce in June, and mixed signals from al-Sadr after his promises to disband his militia and become involved in the political process. The Coalition Provisional Authority had on several occasions threatened to arrest al-Sadr, and in early April 2004 issued an arrest warrant, alleging his involvement in a homicide. U.S. military commanders expressed an intention to "capture or kill" him. – Now he is a constant menace in Iraqs government.

Al-Sadr had ministers in the government but they resigned in protest a couple of weeks ago.
There are those people there because it is Iraq’s government, not ours. We are trying to help them get on their feet.
I hope they can do it soon.

What is a good way to deal with political enemies and keep coalitions together?

Posted on April 12th, 2010 by admin

Oh, yeah probably should specify. I am in student government at a large Midwestern University. No troll here, promise.
I have my share of opposition. I have tried building coalitions against them but it seems that I spend all my time trying to keep the coalitions together! After accommodating all my "allies" I have little political capital left to silence the boo birds on the other side. I am usually very pragmatic in decision making (which seems causes some problems with the idealistic purists in my coalitions) and really only use the dogmatic platitudes of idealism as a vehicle to get/retain power when the opposition (enemies) gains strength. Note: no assassinations on the steps of the Senate, ok. Oh, and thanks for any advice.
and "steps of the senate" thing is an allusion to Shakespeare, not the US senate.

Seek the help of Fox News and their associated army of talking heads to come up with advice and ideas that can catch on to make the deed`s stabilize the coalition and keep the enemies at bay. That`s already been happening, unless they are losing their ground?

Do you feel the christian movement in this country is more political than spritiual?

Posted on April 10th, 2010 by admin

I feel groups such as the christian coalition and others like them are really a political group who lobbies for social and political change not a spiritual group seeking to get closer to their higher power.

Yes. I am a devout Christian, but I am not a Fundamentalist.

I am bothered by the willingness of some religious leaders to mix faith with political issues often totally unrelated to Christ’s ministry.

Whenever faith mixes with politics, faith is dragged down into the mud.

What is the Islamic State of Iraq?

Posted on April 6th, 2010 by admin

Does it really exist as a shadow government, or what?

If Al Qaeda participates in a political coalition with a goal to form a real government or political coalition, shouldn’t we welcome this? They are less dangerous to the world when they operate within the political process to at least some degree.

The IRA evolved from a terrorist group on the outside and has become instead a political organization with a chance at gaining the influence it seeks by nonviolent means.

The State of Israel was born out of terrorism yet its terrorist gangs evolved to become relatively peaceable such as Stern which became today’s Likud Party.

The word "assassin" was coined as the label for an Islamic terrorist gang which evolved into today’s peaceable Muslim group headed by the Aga Khan.

History shows that terrorist gangs often evolve to become recognized political movements no longer relying on violent means to achieve their goals. Is there any reason to doubt that Al Qaeda can do the same?

I think you missed what OBL said. He isn’t interested in forming a state. He is interesting in killing anyone he considers an infidel. That would be anyone not of his radical Islam sect.
