Is the Democratic party just a coalition of groups pitting Americans againts each other to gain power?

Before many dismiss my premise lets look at the evidence.
One party says tax cut for all Americans regardless of income.
Democratic party says tax credit and cuts for the poor the blind, the single the homeowner, certain income level etc etc etc.
One party says health care reform that benefit all Americans
Democratic says says health care reform but please exempt congress, government workers some unions etc etc.
One party says the greatness of the nation is when less and less people need government assistance
The democratic party philosophy is to make more and more people dependent on government
so as to increase their power base.
For those of you with children what would the relationship between your children be if you gave one all the help you could while ignoring the other. As a nation by choosing certain groups to help at the expense of others I believe will eventually end up with a dysfunctional nation …your thoughts
Dissappointed in many of you a single line answer shows a lack of critical thinking. Many of you that are under 25 don’t have enough life experience to see the results of a centralize government controlled society.
So this is the result of public education! I would answer some of you personally but it would be pointless the comprehension is not there

Congress already has health insurance so they are exempt just like everyone else who already have health care. If Congressmen/women make more than $200,000/$250,000 per year, than they will be taxed more just like everyone else in that income range.

Our current tax structure does this as well by giving so many exemptions to the wealthy.

You must be talking about the old America, the one before Woodrow Wilson (a professed progressive) managed to change our Constitution with the 16 Amendment. We aren’t all treated equally now and it’s in the Constitution. Since it was a Democrat who did this, expect Democrats to exploit it.

I would say no as the Democratic party and the Obama administration’s policies are pretty much making themselves enemies of the people. As far as I remember, 2/3 is still a majority over 1/3. Keep it up, the Republicans are going to win everything come 2012 but I don’t even back that as I look ate both parties as staffed to the gills with power hungry, elitist blue bloods who have no concept of reality in America.

Obama gave out the biggest tax cut package in the history of this country. It went to 95% of Americans.
Congress already has government health care. Prove those exemptions exist; never heard of them.
That is a lie — Democrats help people get back on their feet. Republicans just want to kick them in the teeth.
My kids get help as needed. Republicans want to help nobody.

Well, I don’t have children, but presumably I’m going to give the most help to the child that needs it the most at any given point. That may seem unfair to the kid that isn’t getting as much help, but only because they are still a child. Presumably when they grow up, they will realize that their sibling was getting more help because they needed it more.

I agree. There is one point you forgot to mention about one child getting all the help. It also would mandate that the other children help the needy child as well. Now I’m all for families helping each other out, but sometimes the other children need their money to live themselves.

No, you are projecting. Substitute Republican Party for Democratic Party in your question and you will be correct. Republicans pit people against each other when they yell you lie at the President, when they yell baby killer at a congressman, when they encourage people who are disrupting Congress, when they don’t condemn those shouting racist and homophobic epithets at and spitting on Democratic members of Congress, throwing rocks through windows at Democratic offices, cutting the gas line of a relative of a Congressional Democrat, and threatening Democratic members of Congress. When Congressional Republicans yell, hell no, you can’t at the people and the President, vow to obstruct Congressional business because they are no longer the party in power and are angry, they need to resign and go home. When Republicans call the President anti-American, a socialist, a communist, a marxist, a terrorist, and worse, and lie about where he was born they are rabble rousing and need to stop. When people on Medicare say that people shouldn’t have insurance, they need to give up theirs or shut up. When tea partiers carry hateful, racist signs with misspelled words they are pitting people against each other. When they jeer at a man with Parkinson’s disease and a boy who lost his mother when her health insurance was cancelled, they are being hateful and selfish.
The rich already got their tax cuts during the Bush administration. They didn’t need them and they were detrimental to the economy-voodoo economics.
Republicans didn’t want health care reform at all, unless it would mean more privatizing, allowing them to hand over more money to insurance companies, at the expense of the middle class. Congress and government workers already have health care financed by tax payers. Unions fought for their own health care plans. So they don’t need health care, but those with a conscious want others to have it.
The Democratic Party actually is the one which wants fewer and fewer people to need government assistance. Republicans just have contempt for anyone who needs anything and don’t want others to have what they have.
The Republicans help the rich and the Democrats help those who need help.
