“Harry and Louise” Health Care Advertisements
Posted on March 11th, 2010 by admin
In 1994, two ads, paid for by the Coalition for Health Care Choices, opposed President Clinton’s health care plan. Two other ads, paid for by the Democratic Party, urged citizens to contact members of Congress to support the president’s plan. All the ads featured the characters “Harry” and “Louise.”

And then Harry took …
And then Harry took out a loan to build a rocket ship. Harry decided that he wasn’t going to need United States health care because he was going to start his own colony on Mars. Harry built his rocketship and went to Mars where he is now king of his own healthcare…

Under ObamaCare …
Under ObamaCare Like HillaryCare Louise will wait on waiting lists until her time is up. There has to be a better way! Lets go after the lawyers instread? Tort Reform works.

I live in Canada. …
I live in Canada. Our medical system is not perfect, I’ll tell you that. But the fact that I don’t have to worry about being able to AFFORD going to the doctor is priceless.
The MRI comparison is also irrelevant. One thing that has to be considered in Canada especially is population and geography. We simply can’t have an MRI machine in every city because of the population + size of the country. It cant be compared to the USA in that sense.

Neither are you
Neither are you

Those last 2 ad …
Those last 2 ad were complete bullshit, lying claiming people have insurance because they were denied, its called MEDICARE and oh yeah I thought that boondoggle was supposed to solve all of our problems. Clinton’s plan was similar to Obamafuhrer force those on quality plasn off into plans, destroy savings, and do it through taxation, intimidation, and bullshit. all because the rich and the “millions” of uninsured don’t have insurance. You don’t need insurance. You need gov to get out!

ask3200, I thought …
ask3200, I thought I’d give you a dictionary definition of fascism to help you see that health insurance companies do act in a fascist manner.
The only difference is that fascists in the health insurance industry care about only one race: The Race of The Wealthy. So when a company denies a person health care, and then that person dies, that company has committed murder (negligent homicide).
The genocide of the poor through denial of health care is very easy to see.

First of all, no, …
First of all, no, fascism doesn’t comprise corporatist economic ideology. Second of all, one of the most central aspects to fascism is the strength of the race and, therefore, forceable annihilation of any opponents to the race or the cause. It’s a little hard to be fascist without brute force. Third of all, 95% of your post is a near verbatim recitation of the dictionary. Thanks for that nothing… You proved my point.

Fascism comprises …
Fascism comprises corporatist economic ideology. Fascists believe that nations and/or races are in perpetual conflict whereby only the strong can survive by being healthy, vital, and by asserting themselves in conflict against the weak. I’m a sure a pay-or-die system of health care that denies you coverage for being too sick fits the bill of fascism.I’ve never been in the habit of resorting to logical fallacie like ad hominem attacks because they distract from the issue. I’m semantically correct

DAVIID HILL,
Now …
DAVIID HILL,
Now you’re calling insurance companies fascist?! Do you even know the meaning of the word “fascism”? You’re just spewing ad hominem remarks again. The well-known criticisms of the insurance industry have nothing to do with the tenets fascism. Here’s a novel idea: become informed on the health care issue & then speak about it in a constructive, accurate & detailed manner. Cause you’re not doing that now…

Especially to the …
Especially to the illegal aliens AND 1/3 of the uninsured who COULD be insured, but don’t because they would have to fill out paperwork? Hmmmm, sounds about like 1/2 of the “reform” will cover IDIOT Americans who can’t fill out papers and are crying and illegal aliens, hmmm…. That just sounds dandy now doesn’t it?
March 11th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
Would you bank on …
Would you bank on that? This happen less than 2 years ago. That’s just ancient now isn’t it? Well he had to wait 3 weeks for a SICK APPOINTMENT! If you walk into the office today, you can be seen for a sick appt. that day or the following day, they give you a prescription, you go and get your medicine that day and all done in 1-2 days. Single payer causes long wait times (2 weeks for sick appointments, & another week to be approved for medication). So no fear-mongering, i WISH I was kidding.
March 11th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
Just because you …
Just because you want health care reform does not make you a socialist. Learn what socialism really is.
I’m pretty sure that you’re either lying, exaggerating, or that the story you’re telling has been passed down from person-to-person so many times that it’s become very inaccurate. That’s just more fear-mongering from the right.

Walmart WAS great. …
Walmart WAS great. They became better than everybody else by making things cheaper, being BETTER than everybody else, now their CEO’s are Socialists. And no, waits like this are VERY real, my cousin in Canada waited 3 weeks to get antibiotics for an infection, his infection spread and he HAD to go to the ER, had he waited 24 hours, he’d be with God right now. 3 WEEKS to get antibiotics? That’s what I want too!

I love how people …
I love how people who want “government out of their lives and off their backs” have no complaints about corporations doing the same.
That koolaid must be real tasty. Sure glad I have sense enough not to drink it.
March 11th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
Sir, you don’t even …
Sir, you don’t even comprehend the words that are coming out of your mouth. Go do some research on socialism before you spout your ignorance.

HERE HERE! Their …
HERE HERE! Their new ads are such a joke.
March 11th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
oops, sorry there …
oops, sorry there buddy!
We totally agree on this issue then!
I’m just so used to to people saying the most irrational things and defending the major corporations as facilitators of “freedom” that it’s driving me absolutely nuts!
March 11th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
I think you missed …
I think you missed my point. Harry and Louise are corporate shills who helped misinform the public in 1994 and stopped health care reform. Yes, the CEO leeches who ride our miseries all the way to the bank have blood on their hands too. I’m sick of Harry and Louise and these manufactured “grass roots regular people” who parrot the agenda of the highest bidder.
March 11th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
zchamberlain2012, …
zchamberlain2012, either you’re lying or you’re horribly misinformed. Tales of waiting a month for an MRI or other tales of wait-times are either exaggerated if not entirely made up by right-wing ideologues and their corporate-shill compatriots.
You’re lying, and probably know it! Private insurers ration health care already, and their over-head (including executive compensation and liability to their share-holders) are what’s driving health care costs through the roof. Walmart supports reform
March 11th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
no, Dacktyl, every …
no, Dacktyl, every health insurance company that denied health care to somebody who subsequently died as a result has blood on its hands.
In fact, that’s why every CEO of every health insurance company should be arrested and tried for the murder of each person that died because they were denied health care by their company.
There would be so many murders they’d be charged with, that they would ALL be given the DEATH PENALTY
March 11th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
Oh really? How’s …
Oh really? How’s Canada’s and the European system working out? A month to wait for an MRI??? I needed one recently and it was put on urgent, i drove to a center and had it done and resulted within 6 hours. Would that happen if I had to be put on a waiting list to get on the waiting list? 1 million can fit on the waiting list, hundreds of thousands are waiting to GET ON the list of 1 million. That’s what I want. Sounds great huh?
March 11th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
Fuck you Harry and …
you Harry and Louise. You have blood on your hands.
March 11th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
…and did you know …
…and did you know that the main reason Americans are opposing Obama’s health care plan, is because the media is ginning up fears that it will cost too much money?
More competition will make the system ever more inefficient because the market dynamics inherent in the Health Care industry necessarily anticipate a Single Payer system. There is nothing wrong with a single payer system! In fact, single payer will save $400 Billion annually!
