Centrist House Democrats are questioning the cost savings and deficit assumptions that Speaker Nancy Pelosi touted in introducing a healthcare bill designed specifically to win their support.
The four leaders of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition have drafted a letter to Congressional Budget Office (CBO) Director Douglas Elmendorf – which the Blue Dogs plan to send Thursday night. In the letter, they ask for additional calculations and explanations about whether the $1.055 billion House bill would reduce federal spending on healthcare and would reduce the deficit, as Pelosi has promised.

It is sickening. And Obama and Hillary ought to be ashamed of themselves. Can Congress to anything? Even if foreign policy under the rules is the domain of the Executive? I hope the American electorate pays attention: through their actions in the W. Hemisphere, Obama and Hillary show what they actually stand for. Let us hope for a resounding defeat of the Dems come 2010 and a change in some of these awful and dangerous policies.

I think that it will pass in the House because they only need a few of the Blue Dogs to break ranks
But it will not get nearly enough support to defeat a Filibuster in the senate
If Obama doesnt use the nuclear option, no senate vote, no conference, no bill

If it does, we will be able to tell how many Communists we have in the government.

Wishful thinking.I could see if you and the others were really worried about anything you say . The GOP like you and the rest dont want it to pass for your hatred of Obama is so strong you would love to see people without healcare die than to see them get some type of insurance, how sad.make no mistake about it the bluedogs will fall into line as will some republicans. You are going to feel betrayed , but they dont want to be on the losing side.

I think it will pass in the end. I hope so. But from what I understand not as many people would end up going with the public option anyways. It is looking like it will cost less than they thought.I wish they could all see that putting up the cost up front will save money later. It is a never ending losing battle if they dont pass a healthcare reform of some form so all have health insurance. Its not right for people to suffer and its not right for people to not care.To watch a person ill and in pain not to be able to get something done about it. I dont understand why anyone has to debate this because there is nothing to debate. All people have the right to get treatment and not to have to just set back and die an aweful death.Every single person who has to go to the emergency room and cant pay for it..that cost will keep raising the price of healthcare to cover it and its extremely expensive and no one seems to understand this. It seems like ignoring the is better to people and that is why we are in this mess. We need preventive care so people are able to stop illness before it gets costly. This will bring price down. But many dont want to listen. It seems like it becomes more about Nancy Pelosi or a democrat thing than a human right issue. We lose track of the real issue. This is about caring about the sick and the dying. I know Obama tries to bring this issue back to the floor amny times…and its like kids fighting in school. Kids….what can we do about it. The republicans need to quit being greedy and just let us put together a wonderful healthcare package to take care of all and then let us go from there.
