Is it possible to invade the United States of America?

The answer is clearly NO, but I won’t to hear what the disbelievers have to say… An invasion of America would be impossible. Even if the entire world came crashing down on America with a massive coalition, it would still be impossible. And yes, i am accounting for the possibility that Canada and Mexico join this inevitably doomed coalition. Other countries with aircraft carriers and transport planes, (assuming they have any), would be blown out of the water or sky before they got within 2,000 miles of either coast. Hell, for that matter our Coast Guard could take on just about anything the world could throw at us…In fact, lol,,,the Coast Guard is larger than the Royal Navy…so just think about that for sec….Bottom line, if you cannot land troops on American soil…you cannot beat us…But if you think we can be invaded…I would love to hear how…Adults only please..

The USA was invaded by Japan in WWII, in the Aleutian Island chain. So yes, it is possible. A small force could land on a little-watched coastal area and act as a beach head.

Okay, to answer your question, YES it is possible to invade America. Mexico or Canada would have to turn against us and all they would have to do is march troops across the border. Simple as that.
However, can America be destroyed that is a whole different question.

america is not invincible… if not for the atomic bombs we would have lost WWII. Canada and Mexico probably won’t do much damage since their military stinks, but as for the rest of the world, we are already having a difficult time in iraq and the stituation is already out of control (they call it sectorian violence, but we all know that really means full blown civil war)… needless to say take on the rest of the world…

Mexico was in the anti-American coalition, we would be in trouble. Think of all the millions of troops from all the South American Countries! And especially if Canada was against us too, because we’d have a hell of a time defending that long border, and it would distract us from the southern border.
Honestly, for America to survvive that, the first thing we’d have to do is invade and concer all of Central America down to the Panama Canal. Then we could just defend the tiny border there. Somehow we would have to put Canada on lockdown too.

Terrorist or other countries which stands against the US can only execute guerilla types of warfare on US soil (ie. hit and run tactics, planting IED, or stealing nuke), but invading? Definitely NO. USA is a very huge country and militarily secured from inside and out, apart from the US military bases stationed in strategic locations worldwide with sophisticated spy and intelligence gathering equipments. It is definitely impossible. Except, when all the nations (including the allies with nuclear weapons and WMD) turned their back against US and join forces, maybe.

The arrogance of Americans is felt by all. If the world was to gain up against the US, there are simply no way of surviving for the States. A single Grizzly Bear is enough to frighten a whole small American town, let alone the whole bear force of the Canadians. China and India alone could obliterate the entire armed force of the US by sheer numbers alone, and let’s not forgee the US’s enemies INSIDE. This from a nation which literally peed itself over one tiny country’s alliance to the Soviet Union is no less than a joke. From a country that cannot keep illegal immigrants out of its borders, this is a joke. From a country that relies on foreign trade and income, this is a joke.

Yes the US can be invaded, however a successful occupation would be difficult. I don’t think it could happen or would happen. Our civilian population is better armed than some militaries. Not to mention most of the world’s economy depends on Americans buying goods from them.
The US isn’t just a military superpower, America is an Economic Powerhouse. More powerful than the next 3 countries economic power combined.

If Russia secures the 50 miles of Ocean between itself and Alaska at Big Diomede Island they could mount an invasion in a matter of hours with enough planning. They could even take a portion of Alaska and setup SAMS before we had much of a defense mounted. If they had enough air support (doubtful) to take all Alaska it would be possible to work their way through Canada and invade the mainland, likely Minnesota after a very long walk.
The odds of this happening I would guess are INCREDIBLY slim.
But are the best chances of an invasion (even if temporary) off the top of my head.

Ray: WRONG, atom bombs ended the war earlier, Japan was doomed from the start. The use of atomic bombs save millions of lives. Conventional bombing of Japan killed many times the # killed by the two tiny atom bombs. The USA would have prevailed, albeit thousands more US soldiers and millions of Japanese civilians and soldiers would have died.

The USA is invaded by people from Mexico every day. All the USAs combined forces cannot keep out the invasion of radical extreemists. Wars are no longer about red team verses white team, therefore any country can be invaded, and unless you can see your enemy, you will loose. More Than 1,000 Take Part In Metro East Disaster Drill

(KSDK) – It’s only a drill. But for the next five days, metro east residents may notice an increase in activity involving military and emergency agencies.
What is being called Prairie Thunder began Friday morning with a simulated terrorist attack on a railroad tanker car. The explosion released an imaginary cloud of ammonium chloride.
Fire crews and other personnel responded as thought it was a real emergency. Edwardsville Fire Chief Brian Wilson had been part of the year-long effort to plan the exercise. He says they discovered the first weakness fifteen minutes into the operation.
"We’ve got some communications issues as far as radio frequencies go," says Wilson. "We found it during a drill situation. No harm, no foul, and that’s when you’ve got to find these things out."
A disaster relief center and command post has been established at Liberty Middle School in Edwardsville. The exercise will be coordinated from there. The same place which will serve as a shelter for those evacuated by various aspects of the operation.
Prairie Thunder will eventually involve as many as 1,000 personnel, including an urban search and rescue team which will comb through the rubble of a collapsed building searching for mannequins and dummies serving as victims.
The exercise will culminate Tuesday with the capture of the "terrorists" who launched the fictional attack. The exercise is being funded by a federal grant from the Department of Homeland Security.

It will be an emergency without the urgency.
On Aug. 8 and 9, first responders across the Panhandle will participate in an exercise to measure the area’s readiness for mass disasters. Plans call for emergency scenarios to be played out but without sending teams into the field.
"This is what is called a functional exercise," said Walt Kelley, emergency management coordinator for Amarillo and Potter and Randall counties. "Instead of seeing firemen running around, people will be handed a piece of paper with a situation on it and start from there."
The idea is to practice responses without spending the large amount of money it would take to fully recreate an emergency.
"Once these people in the command centers get started, they’ll get in the mood of something actually happening in the field," Kelley said.
Kelley also will coordinate how resources are used and shared throughout the Panhandle during the drill.
The exercise will cover all 26 counties of the region and will focus on handling a large, cataclysmic animal health disaster because of the numerous livestock operations and a public health disaster involving the outbreak of a highly contagious disease among humans, said John Kiehl, regional services director at Panhandle Regional Planning Commission.
"Nearly every hospital, the agriculture industry, incident command posts – there will be a lot of groups participating," Kiehl said. "The model we are using is the model that worked well with the wildfire response in March. The spirit of cooperation we’ve had forever here, the neighborly relationships make it work."
The drill is part of an ongoing effort to prepare for the worst.
"The whole purpose of the exercise is to learn how to do it better next time," Kiehl said

The state plans to hold an exercise in mid-August simulating the explosion of a half-kiloton nuclear device at the entrance of Honolulu Harbor, a mock blast that theoretically would result in 10,000 casualties.
State Adjutant Maj. Gen. Robert G.F. Lee, head of the Hawai’i National Guard, said Hawai’i is one of the first to take on the nuclear device planning.
Several hundred state and military planners and first responders will take part Aug. 14 to 16 in "Exercise ‘A Kele."
Edward Teixeira, vice director of state Civil Defense, said the name of the exercise uses the Hawaiian words " ‘a," for hot and fiery, and "kele," for impurity, signifying radiation.
The Department of Homeland Security about two years ago developed 15 national planning scenarios, including simulating an "improvised nuclear device" explosion.
Planned for a year and a half, ‘A Kele comes as Hawai’i reportedly was targeted on the Fourth of July in a North Korean test of a long-range Taepodong-2 missile that U.S. officials said blew up 42 seconds or sooner after launch.
The half-kiloton explosion being simulated in Honolulu is smaller than the 15-kiloton bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945. A larger, 22-kiloton device exploded over Nagasaki.
Teixeira said the blast radius for the simulated exercise will encompass the diamondhead end of Honolulu Harbor, overlap Sand Island, and with prevailing winds, a plume will extend out to sea paralleling ‘Ewa Beach.
State and federal military command and emergency responders will take part, including U.S. Pacific Command at Camp Smith.
"Essentially, you will see many emergency operations centers going round the clock," Teixeira said.
Although Honolulu Harbor is the site for the simulated explosion, Bellows Air Force Station will represent "ground zero" for the blast, and several hundred emergency responders will have roles there, including the state Urban Search and Rescue Team to search for casualties, and the Honolulu Fire Department, which will work with the health department’s radiological monitoring team, Teixeira said.
Lee said he didn’t want to turn the exercise into a mass casualty drill, and "we’re not going to shut down commerce."
But he said it would be big enough, using computers and other communications, to simulate the loss of 30 percent of island communications.
TEST-CASE SCENARIO
The exercise will help the state develop a nuclear explosion evacuation plan. Officials said there is a terrorism response plan calling for a collective state and federal response using the powers of the president to declare a disaster.
"(But) for a nuclear scenario like (the one planned), that particular plan has to be developed," Teixeira said. "So this is good. It forces us to get there."
During the Cold War years, there was a plan to deal with radiological fallout and an evacuation plan to create one-way streets and move people away from Pearl Harbor and the Honolulu area — likely target areas — and up to the North Shore, Teixeira said.
There also was a component to airlift and sealift possibly 100,000 people to Neighbor Islands, he said.
"Once we find out what happens (in the upcoming scenario), we’ll be calling for (simulated) evacuations back to a safer distance," Teixeira said. "It may not be all the way to the North Shore, but I’m thinking in those terms, because when you see something like that go off, and we start picking up radiological readings, you don’t know where the buffer zone is going to be."
Teixeira said in a real nuclear explosion, there likely would be a lot of fires and calls coming in from all over the city to 911. An electromagnetic pulse could make phones go dead.
A presidential disaster declaration would allow the Federal Emergency Management Agency and military to work with the state. If that couldn’t be obtained right away, U.S. Pacific Command would be able to assist the state until a declaration was made.
MODEL FOR DISASTERS
Lee said the state was out front when it conducted an avian flu exercise last August, and for the upcoming training "we’ll be shown high interest" from the Defense Department because it is trying to build a nationwide exercise on improvised nuclear devices, Lee said.
"They are going to take a lot of lessons learned from Hawai’i," he said.
Although the exercise is occurring in the wake of the North Korean missile test, officials said it was planned long before.
In comments yesterday, Lee also downplayed the danger to Hawai’i of the missile test, which the conservative Japanese newspaper Sankei reported targeted waters off the state.
"It’s good to be a small set of islands in the middle of the Pacific, because there is absolutely a huge difference between the ability to reach, and the ability to actually hit something," Lee said.
"I think we’re giving too much technical credit to the ability of the North Koreans."
Beyond that, Lee questioned the veracity of the Japanese report saying Hawai’i was targeted.
"All I can say is I have not received any factual basis that lends credibility to that report," he said.
GREATER THREAT
An improvised nuclear device may be a more real threat.
John Pike, director of Virginia-based military think tank GlobalSecurity.org, said a version of a North Korean medium range missile will fit inside a 40-foot cargo container.
"You can put those cargo containers on tramp steamers that you can buy on Web sites for $1 million apiece, and there are 100,000 ships like that," Pike said. "The United States does not have positive identification of all those ships."
Lee said the security "is fine within the state of Hawai’i," and people should make preparations for natural disasters and have water and other supplies on hand, but an improvised nuclear device "is a little more realistic threat we have to prepare for than a (North Korean) missile."

MANCHESTER – The city’s Arms Park was ground zero yesterday as a mock disaster drill tested local, state and federal law enforcement and emergency services preparedness for a major bioterrorism event in the Millyard.
Involving area medical facilities and private ambulance services as well as city fire and police personnel, as well as state and federal agencies, "Operation Millyard" will be evaluated to see what went right and what could be improved, said Manchester Fire Chief Joseph Kane.
The scenario: Several disgruntled University of New Hampshire at Manchester students are planting explosive devices intended to cause mayhem at a graduation ceremony to be held in several days when one device goes off prematurely outside the building facing Arms Park.
An emergency 911 call is made from a nearby building as the facility’s alarm system automatically alerts police and fire of the explosion and triggers their response.
After police and fire personnel respond, a secondary incendiary device goes off in the parking lot of Arms Park where emergency personnel have already set up to respond to the original explosion.
Decontamination units are set to respond and a triage center determines the severity of the injuries before the victims are taken to participating area medical centers: The Elliot Hospital, Catholic Medical Center, the Veterans Administration Medical Center and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Manchester.
The disaster drill allows the city’s fire department to use some new units made possible through federal homeland security grants — a unit to prevent buildings from collapsing and a mass casualty unit capable of handling 50 injured individuals at a time.
Watching the action, Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta said, "In this day in age you can’t over prepare. Preparedness saves lives and that is the focus we have to have now a-days."
Guinta had been informed of the incident as it unfolded and was kept informed before he arrived at the scene. "We’re the state’s largest city so you never know what could happen," he said.
"I feel very fortunate we are able to get the resources to have these kinds of events," Guinta said.
2,000 more ‘victims’ are needed for mock attack

About 6,000 volunteers will play roles in a mock terrorist attack Aug. 9 at Busch Stadium.
Officials said Wednesday that 2,000 were still needed.
It will be the largest such drill ever held in the area, said Gary Christmann, head of the city’s Emergency Management Agency.
Numerous first-responders, local and state agencies, hospitals and Busch Stadium personnel will take part in the practice of disaster plans.

Volunteers must check in at the stadium between 5 and 6 p.m. for an exercise that will last until 9 p.m. Each will receive a "goody bag" of donations from various sponsors, a food voucher and free parking.

Hey man don’t get too comfortable with the idea that America is invincible. We are a great country and we also have a great military but the entire world coming at us? Its very unlikley but if it happened we would probably lose. We have a lot of nukes but so does russia. Remember the Tsar Bomba? Thats 50 megatones. And if Canada and Mexico were against us can you imagine the ground forces pouring through? Remeber this also that most other countries do not care as much as we do about collateral damage, meaning that theyd be much less carefull about getting a bomb to hit the right spot when they could just carpet bomb the whole area. Sure the national gaurd is bigger than the royal navy i think im just going on your word that it is… but thats for what, one country? Whos to say only the Brits would bring their boats? What about the other countries? We have great technology but technology doesnt win wars, at least not now. Sheer numbers, multible stratigists, firepower, and an iron will to destroy america will beat us quicker than you think… not to say I dont have faith in our military to protect us or that i don’t like my country, I do, I wouldnt live anywhere else. Except maybe Japan they have beautiful land. But I belive that America could very much so be invaded. It would have a terrible loss of life, on both sides. But the bottom line is we would fall. Nothing is impossible. Especially something like this. The best thing we can do as a country is realise our weaknesses, because we have many of them. Theoretically, yes, its just a case of having enough men and war material.
In actuality however its no, simply due to the insanely large military budget the US operatets to.
The Coast guard is a law enforcement agency. If it did try and take on an organised force it would be destroyed. It would be a bit like a cop with a magnum trying to take on a bad guy with a rocket launcher – pointless. Regular navy – thats a different story.

Americans would DEFINITELY ally together if that ever happened. As our "enemies" landed on the beach (if they made it that far) you know some people would be picking them off with rifles. I’d fight for America if it was invaded.
ALso, remember we have military bases across the world. While they may not be able to withstand a long & grueling assault, they’d last long enough to protect the homeland.

It is possible. If a rebellion was staged and other countries moved in soldiers to help quell it, and then attacked, America would be crushed. Also, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army has 2.2 million members, 3.25 if you count the People’s Armed Police. The Americans would be whipped. The Coast guard could no way beat our Royal Navy. You would be crushed. The Canadians and Mexicans would take 6 States each before you realised anything happened. Even the Japanese invaded you in WW2. They took 6 of the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.

Its a rather short sighted bigoted view you have. No country is infallible, take yours for example. Say a country with nuclear weapons decided on a scorched earth policy in the USA with high yield thermo nuclear weapons, then…. your desert wouldn’t be worth having, but… oops they aren’t now ‘cos of all the bombs you dropped on them yourself. Don’t forget that once a ballistic missile is launched there is very little can be done.
