Germany’s new party coalition of CDU/CSU and FDP hasn’t had a good honeymoon period in government. Some say the coalition agreement was both rushed and uninspired — and since then, the tension has only grown.The parties are at odds over whether the government should cut taxes, and now even Chancellor Merkel is getting caught up in the controversy. Members of her own party are starting to question the chancellor’s leadership style, despite her high public approval ratings.
