What do members of the Australian Labor party think about the direction the party is heading?

Posted on March 19th, 2010 by admin

I mean the shift towards the right is obvious in all faction and in all governments be it state or federal. Do you support your party moving ever closer to the politics of the Coalition or would you prefer the Labor party head back to what it was supposed to be..a democratic socialist party who govern for the interest of the working and middle class Australian?

What do you think the Labor party needs to do to improve?

I am not a member of the ALP, but I have several close friends who are plus my brother was when he was alive.

No, I am unhappy with the shift to the right in the ALP’s policies and so are most of the ALP members who I am close to. Most of us would like the ALP to return to its political "Left" that it had pre-1960 although with some of the current "politically-correct" views of today (environment, native title, etc).

You’re a bit late. Gough Whitlam shifted the party to the right in the late 60s, in order to win government. I’ve got used to the idea.

The doorway, make it bigger so they can all go through at the same time instead of the ones not going first blaming other parties for their errors of judgement. Govern the interest of the working and middle class????? T
his government seems to want only two classes, the rich and the working, the middle class is shrinking rapidly. The middle class is the one that pays the taxes for the government to waste and to keep the poor on the dole. If you are a middle class worker I bet you paid more tax last year than a rich person or polli.
