what is the tea party coalition?

I know a little bit about it but i want to know the whole story.

The Tea Party is many things to many people.

It is a grass roots effort primarily made up of ordinary Americans of every race, sex and creed who are simply fed up with the excesses of the government. They want the government to respect, honor and FOLLOW the Constitution. They are fed up with being excessively taxed for programs that the government has no constitutional business being involved in (e.g. health care which seems to be getting the most "press" these days). Basically, it is a group of Americans who believe enough is enough and do not want to be ignored and taken advantage of anymore.

Contrary to what you may see on the mainstream media, it is not a wing of the GOP. It is not run by corporations. It is not organized by talk radio. It is not a bunch of "old racist white rich men who don’t want to pay their fair share of taxes". Rather they simply are tired of paying other peoples "fair share" as well.

They have adopted the image of the Boston Tea Party as their symbol. But they are not ignorant enough to believe that we are being taxed without representation. They believe that we are being excessively (and needlessly) taxed with representation. You can look at the Wikipedia entry below for a good start in getting the story. Or you can Google it. There’s no shortages of entries. Or Opinions. I only caution you on the extreme anti-tea party sentiment out there. In pure emotional terms, it is far more virulent, in fact all the anti sentiment is "extreme".

It’s a lot of different anti-government groups with specific causes, plus a lot of spectators that go because they see it on television. It is run by a group of big business lobbyists for the RNC. ∠°)
