Whats more important to Americans ? Love of their Country or Support of a Political Party ?
Posted on January 25th, 2010 by admin
Why do most Americans seem to identify as a Democrat or Republican first before just being American ? Has pride diminished over there ? Is Political preference more important than National Identity ? So I assume Republicans are Liberal ? or Labour and Democrats ? visa versa, I could find out but really couldn’t be bothered ! In Australia the ALP or Labour Party is more working class and the Government or Liberal-National Coalition is more upper and middle class. So whats the distinction there ?
Thanks for the information ! So your Republicans are opposite to the Australian Republican movement which is aligned with the Labour Party and your Democrats are more like our Liberal-National Coalition or our current Government and Prime Minister John Howard. So apart from sounding naive whats George Bush ?
I applaud the Questioner on asking this?
To emphasize what you ask, I ask you to look at the answer left by Drew Blood, where he shares his view of what the "2 political parties" stand for, then goes on to emphatically state what party he stands for, then sinks to describe himself "for country".
He exemplifies the deterioration of the people inside of America, with, who should be allowed to exist and who shouldn’t by passing a taboo that has long sense outlive its usefulness by branding one party as a giveaway and the other party as keep it for yourselves.
This is what’s happened to our people who tell you that they live in a ‘free" country, yet don’t understand the parallels of repressiveness that exists within because of the changes in law that have occurred in the last 7 years.
America has sunken into "Football" politics where the people who follow, only follow to belong to something, not to do anything that is right for the country. Their idea of "right" is, ‘if you’re in this party, then you must be ok’. The people have forgotten about elections for the best candidate that can help their community.
My Dad taught me that when you WANT to understand something, you, go and look at how it works and DON’T EVER let themes that have been past on to you, cloud your review.
Believe me, I am NOT picking on Drew, I am merely pointing to what he shares that has NOT been true for over 40 years, yet so many like him continues (unknowingly on his part) to push this UNTRUE THEMES of what political parties stand for. (Go look at the Party’s Pages as the party tells you very clearly what they stand for!)
Let’s all Americans stop this Party nonsense and start being American. Let all start looking for the best candidate in our community. If we do, there still a chance that Americans can get America back on track.
Yes we have deteriorated. Yes, most Americans Love their Party, and no matter what that Party does, the followers NEVER question the direction or the repression that occurs??? Yes, "Country" only exists to serve the special interest of the Party.

the love of my country overrides any political party. America is made up of more than just democrats and republicans.

America is useless as a 2 party system, we need a viable 3rd party because its either you are with us or against us on many irrelevant issues like abortion, death penalty gay rights. Which I do not care either way

You can equate our Republicans with your Liberal-National coalition. My love of Country has and will always come first with me.

Both are important to me.

Liberals think that it’s the responsibility of the government to tax all working citizens in order to redistribute the wealth of this country in an attempt to raise the standard of living for all Americans whether you work or not.
Republicans on the other hand believe in giving working citizens tax breaks so that they can take care of themselves, and if you don’t bring anything to the table then you shouldn’t complain when there’s nothing to take from it.
First and foremost I am an AMERICAN. And what I believe is that this country was founded upon FREEDOM. The freedom to live your life your way without government involvement, over-taxation, or communism. In this country you have the FREEDOM to study hard, work hard, and live well -or- be a complete and total bum. It’s entirely up to you, and this is the way I like it.

The two are not mutually exclusive.
I support my party out of love of my country, as they are the most likely to bring about the change I want to see in my country.
